Participants of the 2020 China-Africa Digital Trade Week hope to use the opportunity to promote bilateral trade relationship between Africa and China.
The inaugural China-Africa Digital Trade Week was successfully launched virtually on Monday, attracting high-level dignitaries from across Africa and China, as well as many other entrepreneurs.
The online Business-to-business platform aims to bring together some of the top industry leaders and experts across industries to deliver unparalleled content to increase foreign direct investment.

The virtual forum will run for seven days, ending on 5 July.
Some of the speakers that graced Monday’s opening ceremony include the Secretary General, China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), Mr. Yu Jianlong, Ms. Aminata Bagayogo Traore, Investment Promotion and Private Sector Advisor, President’s Office of the Republic of Mali, Dr. Moses Ikiara, Managing Director, Kenya Investment Authority, Ms. Esmare Steinhofel, Regional Director (Africa), International Congress and Convention Association.

Speaking at the ceremony, David Wang, Managing Director of MIE Events highlighted the importance of visionary leadership in the face of the greatest global economic crisis in decades.
“The business demands are tremendously high and the transformation objectives are set very ambitiously. Having said that, transformation doesn’t happen instantly and a lot of work needs to be done to reach this objective. In the current economic climate, we need to constantly reinvent ourselves to facilitate our Exhibitors and Visitors. Through our virtual platform “China-Africa Digital Trade Week” we continue on the journey of connecting trade worldwide,” said Wang.
The one-week event will not only address China-Africa trade in light of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) but also discuss trade opportunities for China Traders and investors.
Organizers hope that in the course of the seven-day virtual forum, more than 20,000 products will be displayed to cater for both African and Chinese manufacturers looking for export and import opportunities.
